Independence Health System welcomes neurologist Mark Hospodar, MD

GREENSBURG, Pa., July 15, 2026 — Independence Health System today announced that Mark Hospodar, MD, has joined the neurology department.

Specializing in psychiatry and neurology, Dr. Hospodar has nearly 35 years of experience as a Pittsburgh-based neurologist with advanced training and specialized expertise in the management of multiple sclerosis. He most recently was a neurologist at St. Clair Neurology for 25 years, preceded by serving as attending neurologist at Mercy Hospital and a general neurologist in private practice.

“We welcome Dr. Hospodar to Independence Health System and are enthusiastic about how he will positively contribute to patients’ neurologic care and health,” said Mary-Elizabeth Kovacik Eicher, MD, MPH, chief medical officer and director of neurosciences. “His demonstrated skills and depth of neurology experience throughout the western Pennsylvania area will serve patients with expertise and care close to home.”

Dr. Hospodar earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in neurology, and his Bachelor of Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Neurological Society, the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He also participates in the National Bone Marrow Donor Program.
