School-Based Behavioral Health

Behavioral Health is proud to operate fully functional outpatient clinics in 7 school districts in Westmoreland County (Derry, Latrobe, Ligonier Valley, Hempfield Area, Southmoreland, Jeannette, and Mount Pleasant). 11 licensed mental health professionals (LCSW or LPC or LMFT) and 1 part-time psychiatrist provide services year round to students and their families. All services are provided in the school setting. Each school site is licensed by the PA Department of Public Welfare, Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) as satellite clinics of the Latrobe Hospital Child Outpatient Clinic. We receive payment through third party insurers, Medicaid and Westmoreland County BH/DS if patient is not insured. Our services are available for children in these districts K-12, and we currently provide in-person and telehealth services as a way to ensure that children have access to their services during the pandemic.

Common diagnoses that we work with include: ADHD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Autism, Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment Disorder, and many others. Our therapists and psychiatrists, along with our full-time nurse practitioner, provide a team-based approach to treatment. We believe in involving families, the school system, and other natural supports so that the child/adolescent is given the highest possible chances of success on their behavioral health journey.

Students can be referred to our program in a few different ways. If they are over 14 years old, they can request the services themselves. Their parent can contact our office and request the services. The third way is via the Student Assistance Program (SAP) that each school building has. If the mode of referral of SAP, that is initiated by the parent as well.
