The Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation hosted the annual Black Tie event on March 23, 2024 at Greensburg Country Club. This year’s event, Black Tie for Hearts, raised over $120,000 for the Independence Health System Heart, Lung & Vascular Institute.
Bob Pompeani served as the emcee for the evening’s festivities which included a VIP Golden Ticket Reception for our sponsors and their guests, dinner, and remarks by Independence Health System CEO, Ken DeFurio and cardiologist, Dr. James Adisey. Casino-style table games, a silent auction, 50/50 and special- and grand-prize drawings completed the evening.
The Heart, Lung & Vascular Institute provides award-winning care recognized by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, ranking the Health System’s heart surgery program among the top 2% in the nation. In addition to open heart surgery, the Institute offers life-changing, minimally invasive procedures including:
- Robotic CABG and Mitral Valve Repair/Replacement
- TAVR (trans-aortic valve replacement)
- Watchman Implant, a one-time procedure for people with atrial fibrillation
- ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) for the support of a failing heart
- TMVR – Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement
- MitraClip
- PSO (Patent foramen ovale) and ASD (atrial septal defect) closure
The Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation’s Board of Trustees is truly grateful to all the incredible donors, attendees, committee members and volunteers whose contributions will play an instrumental role in the enhancement and expansion of our cardiovascular services and capabilities. On behalf of the patients we serve, we thank you for partnering with us in these important endeavors.
The Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation raises funds for the primary purpose of supporting Independence Health System’s commitment to provide “Expert Care. Here.” Our primary activities are to support our hospitals and other services through funding via any number of initiatives. We distribute monies to enhance services, acquire new equipment and technology, and aid in vital programs for the communities we serve.
To date, our foundation has distributed more than $10 million to make capital and technology improvements at Frick and Westmoreland Hospitals. All monies raised at Black Tie for Hearts will benefit the Independence Health System Heart, Lung & Vascular Institute. Your support is greatly appreciated!
