First-Year Residents and Transitional Year Program

Omais Ahmed, MD

It was the day of my interview that I realized Clarion Hospital was the right residency program for me. I noticed right away that the staff was very welcoming, friendly and that they are a very close-knit team. I believe this is very important in residency.

During the resident meet and greet I also learned that while getting excellent training, residents still seem to have work life balance. This is key for my wife and I who are expecting our first child soon!

Pennsylvania is a beautiful state and Clarion is a small town located in a rural area. When treating patients in a rural area here I feel like I am being a part of this great community. I love to listen to patients and I strive to treat every patient as if they are my family member, and our family medicine continuity clinic allows me to do so.

Clarion is an unopposed residency program which allows us to have broad hands on exposure which is not found in every program. Also, Clarion is small hospital which offers a great attending to resident ratio to optimize teaching during our rotations. The attendings are never too busy to teach. This is particularly important to me. I will be forever grateful for Clarion Hospital giving me this opportunity. I look forward to learning from great team of professionals.

Samee Alheraki, MD

Medical School: Batterjee Medical College for Sciences and Technology, North Obhour, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

I grew up in Saudi Arabia to a multicultural family. My father is Syrian and my mother is from the Philippines. I grew up in a diverse environment, which exposed me to different cultures and traditions. This gave me a unique perspective on the world, and it helped me to develop an appreciation for diversity. I have been passionate about kung fu since I was a child. I started practicing kung fu when I was 13 years old, and I have continued to practice it throughout my life. Kung fu has taught me discipline, focus, and self-control. It has also helped me to develop my physical and mental strength. I am currently in my first year of residency in family medicine at the Clarion program. I am excited to be a part of this program because it is well-respected and it offers a strong clinical training. I am also impressed by the program's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

I believe that my background and my passions make me a well-rounded individual. I am confident that I can use my skills and my experiences to be a successful family physician. I am excited to start my residency program and to learn more about family medicine. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy traveling, reading, and watching movies. I am always looking for new ways to learn and to grow. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Clarion family medicine residency program. I am confident that this program will prepare me to be a successful family physician, and I am excited to start my journey as a doctor.

I chose to complete my Residency at Clarion Hospital because it is an unopposed program with vast learning opportunities, which will enable me to further my medical career. The faculty at Clarion Hospital are welcoming, enthusiastic about educating the residents, and truly care about shaping incredible Doctors. Clarion Family Medicine Residency felt like the perfect match for me the moment I met the Faculty and Residents during my interview. It was evident how close the hospital staff and residents are. The dynamic between the residents is what truly sold me on the program. It is important to me to be a part of a supportive community that is working towards the same goal, which is the feeling I got from the program. It is here at Clarion where I found supportive colleagues to help me grow into the best physician I can be. Dr. Lauren Dolney is a 2023 Graduate of LECOM. She matched into the Transitional Year Program at Clarion and advanced matched into the Radiology Residency Program at Geisinger Health System.
