“ I went to Dr. Tsukui, and he gave us a very thorough explanation of what my problem was and what he was going to do. It was just totally amazing how organized he was, how thorough he was, how patient he was answering all the questions of my husband, myself and my children. I really appreciated that in a doctor that listens to you.”
Lorraine came to Dr. Tsukui with a severe mitral valve leak that required a complex and serious operation. From the beginning, she and her family were impressed by Dr. Tsukui’s thoroughness, organization, and patience. He took the time to explain the details of her condition and surgical plan, answering every question from Lorraine, her husband, and their children. About the introduction to her care, Lorraine said, "I went to Dr. Tsukui, and he gave us a very thorough explanation of what my problem was and what he was going to do. It was just totally amazing how organized he was, how thorough he was, how patient he was answering all the questions of my husband, myself and my children. I really appreciated that in a doctor that listens to you."
Her surgery lasted approximately six hours. In addition to repairing the mitral valve, Dr. Tsukui had to carefully remove calcium buildup from her upper heart chamber using a specialized tool, which he even took the time to show her. When unexpected complications arose during the procedure, his ability to think outside the box proved crucial — he discovered that Lorraine’s tricuspid valve was also severely regurgitating due to an oversized flap. Demonstrating remarkable skill and innovation, Dr. Tsukui fashioned a new valve using Lorraine's own heart tissue.
Today, Lorraine is breathing comfortably again and feels better than she has in a long time. She is deeply grateful for the expert care she received, crediting Dr. Tsukui and his team's expertise, attentiveness, and dedication with her successful recovery.
