Independence Health System Welcomes General Surgeon Stephanie Kekulawela, MD

GREENSBURG, PA, June 15, 2025 … Independence Health System today announced that Stephanie Kekulawela, MD, has joined the General Surgery department. 

Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Kekulawela brings clinical work experience from several facilities in Pennsylvania and across the country. 

Dr. Kekulawela earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Penn State College of Medicine and her Bachelor of Science from the University of San Francisco. She completed her fellowship in vascular surgery at Scott & White Hospital, Texas A&M/Baylor Health and her residency in general surgery at Geisinger Medical Center — both institutions designated as Level 1 Trauma centers.
