Independence Health System Welcomes Back Five Family Medicine Residents as Full-Time Providers

GREENSBURG, Pa., July 30, 2026 — Independence Health System announced that five residents from the Latrobe Family Medicine Residency program are joining the health system as full-time providers. Gabrielle Beck, DO; Luke Egan, MD; Taylor Matlas, DO; and Allison Silber, DO, will join as primary care providers, and Joshua Sokolowski, DO, will join as a hospitalist.
"We are thrilled that five of our recent graduates are joining Independence Health System. Each of them possesses high character and a seriousness about putting the patient first,” said Michael Semelka, DO, FAAFP, VP of Medical Education and Director of Latrobe Hospital Family Medicine Residency. “They have all positively contributed to the health and well-being of patients in Westmoreland County for the past three years as family medicine residents, and it is exciting to think about the tens of thousands of patients they will care for over the next 30-40 years."
Dr. Beck earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Medical Education degrees from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Erie, Pennsylvania. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, minor in Psychology, and a Pre-medical concentration from Saint Francis University. She was Chief Resident in the Latrobe Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Egan completed his Doctor of Medicine degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and minor in Sacred Music from Saint Vincent College. He holds special interests in primary care, adults and pediatrics, diabetes, and weight management.
Dr. Matlas earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from LECOM at Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Silber completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Movement Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Dr. Sokolowski earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from LECOM at Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
