Independence Health System to Host Free Hernia Education and Screening Event in December

BUTLER, Pa., Nov. 18, 2025 – Independence Health System will host an informative hernia education and free screening event on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 4:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Butler Crossroads Campus, located at 129 Oneida Valley Road, Suite 111, Butler, Pa. 

The session will be led by general surgeons Meng-G Lee, MD, and Andrew Szabo, DO. They will present educational information on different types of hernias, their associated risks, and advanced treatment options, including robotic-assisted surgery. Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive question-and-answer session.

Common symptoms of hernias include a noticeable bulge in the abdomen or groin area and discomfort when performing physical activities such as lifting or bending.
