Meet Jodi Williams, RN at Independence Health System. She's been with the health system for 20 years and is currently the team leader for Pre-op, PACU, and Post-op.

"In this role as team leader, I'm responsible for the daily operations of these areas. I act as a surgical services resource for staff, providers and all team members throughout the health system. I help with staff education and orientation and provide care for patients pre and post-operatively. In the background, I also create staff schedules, daily assignments, manage time sheets/payroll. I enjoy overseeing department and organizational performance improvement goals, which involves collecting and reporting on data.

I enjoy interacting with staff on all levels, acting as a resource in computer documentation and most importantly patient care. I love to problem solve, look at an issue and work together to find a successful solution. The favorite part of my job is and will always be the time I spend caring for patients and their families.

When I was 18, I cared for my future father-in-law. I was so impressed with the hospice nurses who came to visit and this had a lasting impact on me. I was an LPN for eight years before becoming an RN 23 years ago and now, my son and daughter are both RN’s. Everyday, I hope to make or have made a difference to the patients and families I have cared for, they are my friends, family, neighbors and community."
