The Clarion Hospital Foundation is looking for applicants for our 2026
Stroup Family Nursing Scholarships. A generous donation from the Stroup
family towards nursing education has enabled the funding of four scholarships.
$1000 ASN Scholarships will be awarded to individuals who are entering
their first year of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program
at Pennsylvania Western University Clarion in fall 2025. During the second
year of the awardees ASN program, awardees in good standing become a Nurse
Extern at Clarion Hospital. The Nurse Extern Program provides RN experience
through mentorship and $5,000 tuition reimbursement for as well as employment
upon graduation.
$1,000 BSN Scholarships will be awarded to individuals who are entering
their first year of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at
Pennsylvania Western University Clarion in fall 2025. This scholarship
is renewable for year two of the BSN program. During the third and fourth
years of the awardees BSN program, awardees in good standing become a
Nurse Extern at Clarion Hospital. The Nurse Extern Program provides RN
experience through mentorship and $5,000 (per year) tuition reimbursement
as well as employment upon graduation.
To be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:
Be a graduate or future graduate of a Clarion, Forest, Jefferson, or Venango County
high school
Be accepted to Penn West Clarion for Fall 2026
Have a grade point average of 3.0 or equivalent in the final three years of high
school
Plan to pursue their education in nursing, enter the Nurse Extern Program, and
gain employment at IHS Clarion Hospital.
Applications must be postmarked or delivered to the foundation by February
28, 2026.

The Clarion Hospital Foundation is looking for applicants for our 2026
Scholarships. This year we are awarding five $1,000.00 scholarships.
$1,000 Dr. John E. Brooks Memorial Scholarship was created by his family
to honor his memory to benefit local students furthering their education in the
field of health care.
(2) $1,000 Joseph and Helen Miller Memorial Scholarships were
established by the Foundation in honor of the Miller Family.
(2) $1,000 Fran Shope Memorial Scholarships to aid students in the
medical field.
*The scholarships will be paid directly to the school of the student's
choice in August*
To be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:
Be a graduate or future graduate of a Clarion County high school
Be accepted to a school of post-secondary health care education
Have a grade point average of 3.0 or equivalent in the final three years
of high school
Plan to pursue their education in nursing, inhalation therapy, lab
technology, radiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical
technology, or other medical field.
Applications must be postmarked or delivered to the foundation by February
28, 2026.
