About the Provider

Thomas S. Muzzonigro, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers and sees patients in its Butler-Clearview office. He is a member of the Hip and Knee Reconstruction team. After graduating with honors and distinction in orthopedic research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, Dr. Muzzonigro completed an internship and orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also served as a clinical instructor in orthopedics. In 2001, Dr. Muzzonigro joined Pittsburgh-based Tri Rivers, where he has built a thriving practice focused on general orthopedics and total joint replacement surgery. Clinical services provided by Dr. Muzzonigro include: minimally invasive knee replacement, arthroscopic knee surgery and total hip replacement. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and serves as a team physician for local high school athletic programs, providing on-field sports medicine coverage and office follow-up. Dr. Muzzonigro is a clinical assistant professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Allegheny County Medical Society. Dr. Muzzonigro also participates in Operation Walk Pittsburgh as an orthopedic lead surgeon, traveling to Central America to perform free hip and knee replacements on poverty-stricken individuals who cannot afford orthopedic care.
