About the Provider
John M. Richmond, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers and sees patients in its North Hills and Slippery Rock offices, as well as at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. He is a member of the Tri Rivers' Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery team and currently serves as the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UPMC Passavant. He received his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. He also completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at Temple, where he served as team physician for football and men’s and women’s basketball. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the San Diego Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine Center. Dr. Richmond worked as assistant team physician for San Diego State University and the San Diego Padres. He joined Pittsburgh-based Tri Rivers in 2013, where he has built a busy orthopedic surgical practice that focuses on shoulder and knee surgery. Dr. Richmond is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and serves as team physician for Slippery Rock University and Mars High School athletics. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Allegheny County Medical Society.
