About the Provider
H. James Pfaeffle, MD, PhD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers and sees patients in its Crossroads Campus and Cranberry/Mars offices. He is a member of the Hand and Upper Extremity team. He studied mechanical engineering prior to entering medical school. He earned his medical degree and his doctorate in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Pfaeffle also completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a hand surgery fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he refined his skills in hand and upper extremity surgery and microsurgery. In 2007, Dr. Pfaeffle joined Pittsburgh-based Tri Rivers where he has built a busy orthopedic surgical practice that focuses on hand, wrist and elbow surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and also treats congenital hand conditions, fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries and arthritis. Dr. Pfaeffle is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and Allegheny County Medical Society.
