Undergraduate: Iowa State University, Ames, IA

I was born and raised in central Iowa, where my early background in nursing sparked a lifelong passion for caring for others. Through these formative experiences, I developed a deep appreciation for patient-centered care - a foundation that continued to grow and evolve throughout my medical education.

I am drawn to family medicine for its broad scope and focus on continuity of care. I value the trust that develops over time and the opportunity to care for individuals and families with a comprehensive approach. My current interests within family medicine include pediatrics, geriatrics, nutrition and lifestyle medicine, and inpatient care.

I chose the Butler Family Medicine Residency after falling in love with the region's scenic beauty and connecting with the passionate team behind the program. Their enthusiasm for the innovative curriculum, dedication to excellent community-based care, and excitement about building something new was inspiring. I am honored to be part of the inaugural class and look forward to helping shape a program that reflects my core values as a physician: compassion, innovation, and commitment to the communities we serve.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy relaxing with my cats, exploring new hiking trails and attending live music events.

As a second-year medical student at Liberty, I discovered that Butler Memorial Hospital was being added as a new core site for third-year medical students. I was thrilled, because I could move from being 6 hours away from home to only an hour and a half. My 3rd year was spent with Butler's outstanding preceptors who encouraged me to consider Butler's upcoming residency program. After spending time at BMH and developing strong working relationships with preceptors, including the program directors, I knew that Butler is where I wanted to become a Family Physician. I know that Butler Family Medicine Residency will support my growth as a physician as well as who I am outside of medicine. Being a resident in the program's inaugural class enables me to contribute to shaping the program. I hope I'm able to lead my co-residents through some of the learning curves that come with being at a new hospital, since it's not so new to me!

Being from Reynoldsville, PA, and having already lived in Butler for a year, I am semi-local to the area. Butler is a great location for a wide range of medicine. Many of the surrounding areas are rural, yet its proximity to Pittsburgh allows for other learning opportunities, all of which I'm looking forward to.

I was born in Philadelphia and developed the dream of becoming a physician at a young age. Life's journey helped shaped my desire to become a family physician as I have developed a passion for preventative medicine, lifestyle changes, food as medicine, patient education and advocacy, and treating the patient holistically. I found the Butler Family Medicine Residency curriculum, and immediately thought it was a great fit for me. Meeting with Dr.'s Dougherty and Peek further confirmed my choice as I could clearly see that they are developing an excellent resident training program that I am excited to join and be a part of.

I grew up in Hyderabad, India. After completing medical school there, I came to the U.S. for clinical experience. I chose family medicine because it allows me to build long-term relationships with patients of all ages and genders.

I have always wanted to train in a residency program that matches my medical school experience in terms of patient demographics and location. The Butler Family Medicine Residency Program, an unopposed program with strong rural medicine exposure and close to a big city like Pittsburgh, is thus a perfect fit for me.

On my interview day, I found the place to have its own unique charm and the opportunity to experience all four seasons. The program felt warm and welcoming, and the faculty were truly passionate about training residents. They were friendly and happy to answer any questions. As someone who loves the outdoors, I am excited to explore parks, go biking, and enjoy hiking. Overall, I am grateful for this opportunity and thrilled to be part of the program.
